First biometric-gated freemium for Bluesky using the Humanode private bioauthentication
Have you ever wondered what would happen if social media, or elements of social media, incorporated Humanode’s private Bioauthentication technology? Well, your wait is over. Storacha has officially created the first biometric-gated freemium for Bluesky using the Humanode private bioauthentication and launching bsky.storage.
In short, Storacha allows you to create a backup of your Bluesky account. Once you create a backup, Storacha makes a snapshot of your publicly available Bluesky data - posts, images, videos, follows and followers, blocks, and more - every hour.
What does this have to do with Humanode private bioauthentication, you say? Well, the answer is simple. When creating an account, you have the option to create the account proving you are a real, living, and unique human being by scanning your face, or, if you don’t want to bioauthenticate, you can simply “swipe” your credit card for the service.
Each account gets up to one free storage allocation for one hundred megs of storage, meaning if you want to go Sybil and backup your fake accounts, or second and third accounts, well, you can pay for that service… or perhaps grow a 2nd or 3rd face that is different from your current one.
One major key here is that the bioauthentication is secure and private. All it ever does is check to see if the user who is trying to sign up is unique (as in it makes sure the encrypted biometrics are not already in the Confidential Virtual Machine), and that the user is alive (no masks, deepfakes, photographs, etc). Neither the system nor we care about who you are or what you look like; we just need to know you are a real human. Kudos to Storacha for their innovative use of bioauthentication!
