The very first validator poll has been concluded
The very first validator poll has been concluded.
As all human nodes (Humanode validators) should be aware of by now, in preparation for Vortex (the Humanode DAO), a change in how the validator fees are to be awarded has been made.
Human nodes that have achieved 84/84 epochs are now required to tie their human-verified Discord account to their node, and also vote in a poll in the #validator-polls once a week to receive the full $25. If you only achieve 84/84 epochs, you will only receive the $12 fee, which will cover the cost of a cloud server to run a node.
With nearly 1400 human nodes (out of the 1800 or so active nodes) achieving 84/84 epochs, the team was anxious to see how many human nodes would first, pay attention to the announcement and tie their Discord accounts to their nodes, but second, participate in the polls.
After all, once Vortex launches, participation in the governance by the human nodes will be essential for the operation of the most decentralized governance system in the world.
The question for the very first poll was “Which pillar of the Humanode 1.0 is the most important one?”. The options were Vortex, SRGate, True Decentralization, and Ecosystem Development. In reality, all four are equally important. One without the other simply won’t work.
Having said that, the reason why this was asked was to see how the community currently viewed the needs.
This was the result.
Without true decentralization, Humanode would just be another blockchain project. Without Vortex, the project would be no different than having a handful of people dictating the fate of many, like any other project or company out there. Without SRGate, the participants and users would have little control over their biometric identity, no matter how private and secure, and without ecosystem development, well, why even run a platform that encourages and assists with Sybil-resistance?
What was more surprising, and pleasantly so, was the number of human nodes that participated.
Although the team is going over the data now, it seems like 861 human nodes have tied their nodes to their verified Discord accounts for the very first poll.
This means, assuming that all nodes that voted attained 84/84 epochs, a maximum of 861 nodes (assuming they continue to vote weekly) will earn Proof-of-Polls and receive the full $25.
Naturally, the more that participate, the better.
The polls may only be simple ones at this stage. However, remember that this is only the first step towards the launch of Vortex, and your participation, the learning, the hiccups, and even the potential mishaps, will all become valuable lessons and data that will greatly assist in the building and development of Vortex.
