Invitation to the proto-Vortex
With the coding of Vortex on its way, it is time to launch “proto-Vortex”, which will act as the stepping stone for those interested in participating in Vortex when the time comes.
As with many of the stepping stones, please treat proto-Vortex as a proof-of-concept initiative. With the learning we gain during the process, the rules may change. As we test theories out, the types of proposals that are accepted may change. Don’t panic, don’t feel you have been cheated, as everything we learn in this process will be utilized to make Vortex better and will be incorporated into Vortex.
Submit proposals: https://link.huamnode.io/proto-vortex/rules
With that said, here is how proto-Vortex will work at its inception.
What happens in proto-Vortex?
Human nodes are invited to make proposals to the proto-Vortex, and the Humanode Core team will do a round of voting, either to upvote or downvote the proposals, every two weeks. If a proposal is accepted, the proposer will be given a budget based on their submitted budget and will be tasked to complete that project. The proposer of the project that gets upvoted will also then be invited to take part in the voting process while this experiment continues.
Who can participate?
Human nodes (Active Humanode validators). We will check that you have been a validator for the entire time you are engaged with the Vortex simulation program. Just in case, remember to visit the #human-node-address-submissions channel to associate your validator address with your verified-human Discord account.
What kind of proposals is Humanode looking for?
Anything that you believe will lead to the growth and advancement of Humanode. You can propose Dapps, studies, marketing activities, community activities, creation of videos, media outreach, UI improvements, UX improvements, research proposals, in general, anything that you believe will make Humanode more attractive.
Having said that, note that there is a budget limit, and that Humanode will only be able to support a project up to that budget limit.
What is the budget?
The voting for proposals will happen every two weeks, and the budget allocated for the upcoming two-week cycle will be announced at the beginning of each new cycle.
When will the voting happen?
The voting will be closed every two weeks, and the Humanode Core team, along with those who have gained the @vortex voter tag (gained by proposing, being upvoted, and delivering on your proposal) will be able to participate in the voting. Bioauthenticated users will be able to observe the voting in real time.
Where do I make the proposals, and what do I need?
You will be able to make the proposals in the #human-node-proposals chat. Along with the proposal, which should state what you are proposing, with the basic 5Ws and 2Hs (who, what, why, when, where, how, and how much), you will need to prepare a basic budget that you feel will be needed to accomplish the task.
Who is responsible for the projects that get upvoted?
If you are the proposer, you are the one responsible for implementing the proposal. In general, the core team is responsible for making sure the proposal is in compliance with the rules and issuing the resources for the approved proposals. If the proposal is approved but breaks the rules, it is nullified, and no resources are issued.
How do I get help for a project that got upvoted?
The Core team will assist you as you move forward and guide you through the steps. Remember, though, it is your project. You will need to take action in order to move forward. If you need a team or helpers, you can invite friends or professionals to help you out (you will need to budget for them in advance, though). You can also call out to the community in Discord or Telegram to find people interested in helping out.
In some cases, you may have a great idea, but you may need the Core team to implement it. If the Core team agrees and upvotes the proposal, they can run with it. (example: You know of a great influencer that will do a super special post for $500 (knocked off from the usual $5,000, since you are his/her bff.). Seeing that this influence has outreach to millions of potential users, the Core team upvotes the proposal. The Core team can then coordinate with the influencer and pay the influencer directly.)
My project is a joint project with my buddy. Do we both get to participate in voting once we deliver?
Not at this stage. For this phase of proto-Vortex, only the person who posts the proposal will be able to gain the @vortex voter tag.
If my project gets upvoted, will I receive the entire budget upfront?
No. In general, we won't be able to approve the proposal if you request all the budget upfront; you must make sure your proposal has adequate milestones that we can allocate the budget for, and check your deliverables before releasing the next chunk of the proposal budget. Naturally, if the project requires the lump sum pay of X amount of $, and the project is still upvoted with that budget in mind, then the lump sum payments can be made.
I have been upvoted, have delivered, and have been participating in the voting. Will I be able to immediately become a Governor once Vortex starts?
Unfortunately, no. But you will have the needed experience, you will be more involved with the Core team and the community, and you will be one small step away from being a full member of the governance of Humanode.
We are looking forward to your participation and assistance in the realization of the Vortex, the one-human = one-node = one-vote DAO!
