Biomapper is now integrated with Verax; Humanode peer update; New WeHMND/WETH staking contract; Build easier with thirdweb SDK; Bug fix notice; The next Validator Poll is live; A Brief History of Sybil Resistance; 2067 – The equilibrium final chapters;  Founders Talk recordings; Humanode BotBasher — still on duty; and more.

TL;DR

Dear Human nodes,

We’ve officially reached Volume 100 of the Humanode Biweekly, and we just want to pause for a moment and say: thank you. Whether you’ve been here since the earliest testnets or joined us more recently, your presence, feedback, and belief in the mission have shaped what Humanode is today.

This cycle, development has been moving at full speed. The work on Vortex DAO has officially begun. We're also introducing UX upgrades to ensure the validator and user journey is smoother, faster, and more intuitive than ever before. To top it off, the mainnet website is undergoing a redesign. Meanwhile, Cross-Chain Biomapping is now live on numerous chains with more integrations on the way.

Speaking of new integrations, Biomapper is now live on Verax, the attestation protocol powering identity on Linea. That means any dApp on Linea can now offer users the ability to prove they’re real, unique humans without requiring KYC. Plug into Verax, let users choose Biomapper, and give your app Sybil resistance without compromising privacy. It’s a simple, powerful setup, and the guide to getting started is already live.

And here's something exciting for builders: the thirdweb SDK now supports Humanode. With over 70,000 developers already using thirdweb to build across 2000+ EVM-compatible chains, this integration makes it easier than ever to launch Sybil-resistant dApps that use biometric identity for access control, governance, and more. Whether you’re working on DeFi, DeSoc, or something brand new, this makes your work that much more powerful and human-aware.

On the infrastructure side, we’ve shipped an update to the Humanode mainnet peer. If you’re running a validator node, this update moves us from Ubuntu 20.04 to 24.04. The safest way to do it is to spin up a new VM, sync it fully, and then transfer your keys before shutting down the old instance. There’s also an in-place update method, but we’ll be honest, it’s risky, slower, and more likely to break things. Only try it if you’re experienced and have the time to troubleshoot. We’ve shared full guides (plus a video walkthrough) and will keep deployment updates posted in the #chain-ops channel on Discord.

A quick note on a recent issue: several Human nodes reported receiving only half of their expected rewards despite full epoch participation (84/84) and voting in the validator poll. We investigated thoroughly and identified an error in the internal tooling used for processing rewards. The issue has now been fixed, and we’re recalculating the correct amounts. If you were affected, you will receive the full rewards; no action is required on your end. We sincerely appreciate those who raised the concern and your patience while we worked through it.

Speaking of polls: the next validator poll is now live. If you’ve linked your validator address to your bio-authenticated Discord, you can head over to the #validator-polls channel and vote. If you haven’t yet linked your address, you can still do so — voting is a core part of the Proof-of-Polls system and a requirement to receive full rewards. We’ve provided a step-by-step guide, and you can find more information on the validator reward structure in this blog post.

Furthermore, the current WeHMND/WETH staking contract ends on June 25, 2025. Right as it closes, a new biostaking contract goes live and will run for six months. If you’re currently staked, you’ll need to unstake and restake your LP tokens in the new contract to keep earning rewards.

In case you missed it, we’ve also been digging into the history of Sybil resistance, a journey that stretches far before zk-proofs and biometrics. In Part I, we explore ancient systems like juror tokens in Athens and scar notations in Egyptian wills, while Part II picks up the thread with mid-century ID cards, national registries, and modern Proof-of-Personhood systems. It turns out the fight to ensure “one person = one voice” is as old as civilization itself. You can find both parts on our blog: → Part I Part II.

Meanwhile, the Humanode-inspired novel “2067 – The Equilibrium” by Shannon Higgins has reached its final arc. Chapter 9, The Book of Nagi, follows Kujo Nagi — a quiet but highly capable “butler” navigating the power dynamics of Japan’s largest corporate empire. Political drama, personal duty, and philosophical tension collide as the future unfolds. If you haven’t yet stepped into this fictional world, now’s the perfect time to start: → Read Chapter 9 (Part 1/4) Start from the beginning.

Last Friday, co-founders Dato and Victor hosted a live Founders Talk discussing the current state of validator fee structures, the ongoing Proof-of-Polls experiment, and what’s next for the protocol. If you missed it, the recording is available here.

And finally, while Humanode Biomapper continues making headlines, don’t forget about our loyal digital sentinel: BotBasher. It’s still keeping Telegrams and Discords safe, and recently helped us verify 861 Humanode validators as part of the Proof-of-Poll. If you’re managing a DAO or community, you might want to take a closer look: → BotBasher Use Case

From the entire Humanode core team: thank you for being a part of this community and this movement. 100 updates in, we’re just getting started.

One human = One node. Always.

With appreciation, — The Humanode Team

 Development Highlights

🔧 The pace hasn’t slowed down. In fact, it’s accelerating:

  • Cross-Chain Biomapping is now live on Hemi, Nibiru, Arbitrum Story, Avalanche, Base, Filecoin, Sei Network, and Sonic, with more coming soon.
  • Vortex DAO development has begun.
  • Major UX upgrades are underway to make everything smoother for you.

Humanode peer update

We’ve shipped the update to the Humanode mainnet.

There are two methods to update your system running the humanode-peer from Ubuntu 20.04 to Ubuntu 24.04:

1. Create another VM to run the humanode-peer simultaneously with your current node setup. Sync the new VM fully, and then "set keys" to switch to the new node. After that, you can shut down the old VM instance.  This is the preferred and recommended way of updating.

Note, you have to insert the mnemonic from your current validator node, so make sure you have access to it.

2. Updating your in-place operating system without full re-synchronization. This method is risky and takes time. Expect your old setup with Ubuntu 20.04 to break with this update, so do not attempt this method if you aren’t ready to deal with it and don't have ample time. The sole purpose of listing the method is that it’s another way to update.

You can see the update in your Humanode launcher settings’ update section by clicking “Check for peer updates”.

Also, the node will be unavailable for a few minutes while the update is in progress.

See the current deployment status in the #chain-ops channel in Humanode Discord.

🐞 Bug Fix Announcement

We recently discovered an issue where some nodes received half rewards despite 84/84 epochs and voting in the validator poll. After investigating, we identified a bug in our internal tooling. It’s now fixed.

📌 No action is required from you. 📦 Rewards are being recalculated, and you’ll receive what you’re owed soon.

Thanks to all who flagged this; your vigilance makes Humanode stronger.

LP Staking

🚀🌱 New WeHMND/WETH staking contract goes live on June 25, 2025

As you know,  the current WeHMND/WETH staking contract (0xf663Dce7cb9fC4b2E10e23d27fbac65d925921E6) ends on June 25, 2025, estimated around 03:55:32 AM UTC, at block 13420876.

So we have deployed a new biostaking contract (0x2991e54d6b904b5d932b130219C690a98B26696d), which will go live at the same time in the same block as the previous one ends and will run for 6 months.

If you are staked in the current pool:

* You’ll need to unstake and restake your LP tokens in the latest contract.

* Rewards will start rolling in as soon as you stake in the new contract.

Keep in mind:

* Rewards will stop once the current contract ends.Your LP tokens are safe, but you’ll need to unstake and migrate to the new contract if you want to keep earning.

* No additional rewards will be issued for the previous poll. However, you’ll still be able to claim the rewards you have already earned.

Make sure to move your assets to the new pool to keep earning rewards without interruption.

If you are new to Humanode Biostaking, the new pool is a chance to get started, with APRs ranging between 20% - 200%.

⛓️ Cross-chain Biomapping

Biomapper is now integrated with Verax- Linea's on-chain attestation protocol

📖 2067 – The Equilibrium Final Chapters

The time has come for the final two chapters of 2067 - the equilibrium, the dystopian novel inspired by Humanode by Shannon Higgins, the Humanode Media Team Lead.

The 9th chapter of the 10 chapter novel, the Book of Nagi, focuses on the struggle between the powers of change, the powers that desire to cling to tradition, the powers that just want power, and the ones that want to hold on to their vested interests.

Kujo Nagi, the "butler" of Yoshida Tomoito, the Chairman of the Yotsutomo Shoji Group, the largest business empire in Japan, is not just good at making the perfect coffee, but knows how to clean up messes, no matter how ugly.  As much as he would rather just live a quiet life, serving his master the perfect coffee, he has no control over the changing world, nor does his master seem to want to stay out of trouble.

🗺️ Roadmap

The Road to Humanode ver. 1.0

For four years, we’ve been building toward a vision – a future where decentralization isn’t just about distribution, but about uniqueness and fairness. Where 1 human = 1 node = 1 vote isn’t just a tagline, but the foundation of how governance, finance, and digital identity can work.

We’ve come far. The world’s first operational one-person-one-node blockchain is live. 500K+ real humans bio-authenticated. Humanode EVM launched. Biomapper is on the verge of going cross-chain. But this is just the start.

Now, we’re taking the next leap with Humanode ver. 1.0, laying down the foundation for a truly decentralized, Sybil-resistant future.

The Four Pillars of Humanode ver. 1.0

♦️ SRGate – A universal identity for Web3

♦️ Vortex – The governance body where 1 human = 1 vote

♦️ True Decentralization – Growing from 1,500 to 10,000 nodes on the path to 1 million

♦️ Ecosystem Growth – More devs, more dApps, more adoption

🫂 Ecosystem Funding Program

The Humanode Ecosystem Funding and Incubation Program is here! We're backing five projects focused on unique human user adoption, each powered by Sybil-resistant tech on our chain. The first project is already feeling the love from human nodes, and there’s more to come.
