Humanode Community Interview #2: Caraka

Humanode Community Interview #2: Caraka

One of the best features about becoming a Humanode validator, or a “human node”, is the fact that it is private.  Yes, you scan your biometrics, in this case, your face, but the information is heavily encrypted, and the only one who has access to the data is the code in the confidential virtual machine, which uses the data only to check if the user is in the system or not.

Although this is great for security and privacy, this also means that unless someone openly states that they are a human node, you really don’t know who is a human node or not.

Even the Humanode core does not know who the nodes are.

Thus, the Humanode media team thought that it would be cool if we could interview some of the human nodes and learn a little bit about them.

Today, we will be talking to Caraka, a human node who discovered Humanode through an airdrop channel back in early 2024.

Q:  Hi Caraka!  Tell us a little bit about yourself.

A:  Hi!  I am from Indonesia, working as a freelance developer while finishing my final semester of college. In the crypto world, I am also an airdrop hunter and solo node runner for several projects.

I really like technology, which is what has driven me until now. In the future, I want to be directly involved in the development of the blockchain network, not only as a user but also as a contributor. The experience with Humanode is an important part of my journey.

Q: Thank you.  Ok, to get the ball rolling, let's start with the basics.  What attracted you to Humanode?

A: To be honest, I like being a validator and running nodes, so my eyes immediately fell on Humanode. What intrigued me was how it worked differently from other nodes and how fair its reward distribution was. It felt like I had found something fresh in the crypto world.

Q: Aside from Humanode being “different and fair”, was there anything else that caught your attention?

A: What I like most is its simplicity. It’s not complicated, and you don’t need to stake heavily like other blockchains. You just stake your biometric identity, proving that you are a real human being.  And this biometric feature is really cool, because it ensures that no one can monopolize the network.

In the future, I think Humanode could be a pioneer in a truly fair blockchain. This crypto-biometric technology has great potential to change the way we view decentralized systems.

But in general, I must say that my experience is quite enjoyable! The documentation is complete and easy to follow.  And compared to other nodes I've run, this is probably the most straightforward. Seriously, this is the easiest node I've ever worked on.

Q: What do you think Humanode needs to improve in order to make it better, or help it grow?

A: Although it's already good, there are a few things that could be added. If Humanode prioritizes convenience, there should be a mobile version of the launcher, both Android and iPhone. Although you might still have to use a VPS and can't do it locally, it would definitely help a lot with access.

Also, it would be good to increase the use of Humanode, this can be developed even for fair voting management.

Try working with voting data companies or governments. I see this crypto-biometric system as very much needed for fair voting. Imagine biometrically verified elections and guaranteed transparency via blockchain!

Also, maybe you could make a simpler interface to attract people who are not familiar with blockchain.

Q: Do you have any requests for the Humanode Developers or perhaps Builders who may be thinking of utilizing the Humanode technology?

A: I'm quite satisfied with what we have now. But in addition to the mobile launcher that I mentioned, maybe a wallet app specifically for Humanode would also be very useful. You know, to make it easier to manage assets and interact with the ecosystem.

I just hope more people would utilize this technology, because it would be easy to create other programs or dapps that utilize Humanode's biometric technology.  Like a voting application, a digital identity system, or a secure payment platform. There is a lot of potential, just need to develop the use case more widely.

Q: How would you envision the future of Humanode, say, in 5 years in the future?

A: I am sure crypto-biometrics will develop rapidly. It is already starting to appear that several other projects are trying a similar approach.

In the next five years, this kind of technology will become more mainstream, especially for security based on user uniqueness. It will definitely help reduce scams and fraud that still often occur in crypto. Humanode has the opportunity to become a major player in this field.

Q: Thank you for the interview!  Any final comments or messages to the Humanode Community or core team?

A: In my opinion, Humanode's strength lies in its community. My suggestions would be to hold more tutorials and sharing sessions to attract new validators.  Create events like hackathons to encourage application development on Humanode.  Build partnerships with other blockchain projects and form a solid ambassador team to expand the community!
